Helping homebuyers co-own
Many people in Canada struggle with the high cost of purchasing a residential property. For many, owning a home is a dream that feels unattainable.
To understand the needs of potential co-owners, we conducted surveys, interviews, and focus groups with a diverse group of people. We also analyzed existing co-ownership platforms and websites to identify opportunities for improvement.
Based on the research, we designed a platform that features a compatibility test and a legal agreement and pre-approval service. The compatibility test assesses co-owners' preferences, lifestyle, and financial stability to ensure that they are a good match. The legal agreement outlines the terms of the co-ownership arrangement, including the distribution of expenses and responsibilities.
We tested the platform with a small group of beta users to gather feedback and refine the product. Based on their feedback, we made several updates to the user interface and added additional features, such as the ability to communicate with co-owners and track the status of the ownership arrangement.
I then moved on to the landing page , creating detailed wireframes and visual mockups for the site. I turned the designs into a functional website, including the implementation of any necessary technology or systems. I also worked with the venture analyst and associates to ensure that the website met all requirements and provided accurate information to potential customers.
The final product was a user-friendly and compliant website that made it easy for potential buyers to understand and apply for a co-ownership mortgage solution. The website was well received by users, who appreciated the clear and concise information.
User Adoption: Convincing potential co-owners to use the platform and trust the compatibility test may be a challenge.
Legal Issues: Ensuring that the legal agreement provided by the platform is legally binding and meets all relevant regulations is also a potential issue.
Technical Challenges: Building a platform that integrates data from a variety of sources, such as credit reports and financial information, can be technically complex. Ensuring that the platform is reliable and secure may also pose a challenge.
